Report: Russian govt to set pension reform parameters on June 14

MOSCOW, Jun 8 (PRIME) -- The Russian government will decide on the parameters of the future pension reform on June 14, the baseline scenario is raising the retirement age to 63 years for women and to 65 years for men, RBC reported citing sources close to the government on Friday.

One of the sources said that an option of increasing the retirement age to 60 years for women and to 65 years for men cannot be ruled out.

Most pension benefits are likely to be retained, a source said.

On Thursday, President Vladimir Putin said in a live conference that the government would present proposals on the pension reform soon.

“As to the retirement age, you know my position, I treat the issue with maximum carefulness and accuracy,” he said.

The retirement age in Russia is currently 55 years for women and 60 years for men.
